The lovely seaside town of North Berwick is a gem of the East Lothian coastal trail. There’s so much to do in all weathers and at all times of year: walking or playing on the sandy beaches, kayaking, sailing, golfing, tennis, super shops to browse along the High Street, and a fantastic choice of places to eat and drink.

Only a 40 minute train ride or car hop from Edinburgh, North Berwick has striking views out to the Firth of Forth and the Bass Rock - the world’s largest northern gannet colony (the bird takes its Latin name, Sula Bassana, from the island).

North Berwick is home to the 5-star rated Scottish Seabird Centre, a must see for bird and wildlife enthusiasts; and a bustling hub for sailors and golfers alike.  Nearby attractions include the mighty Tantallon Castle to the east and Dirleton Castle to the west, and the famed National Museum in Flight at East Fortune. And thanks to North Berwick in Bloom, the town has won multiple awards for its gardens, floral displays and wildflower gardens.

True to seaside town form, North Berwick has classic fish and chip shops and ice cream parlours, as well as characterful tearooms along side a fabulous choice of cafes, gastro pubs and fine dining restaurants to savour.  There's an array of creative, boutique and independent shops to browse, and plenty to keep everyone entertained, from boat trips around the local islands, putting greens, playgrounds, tennis courts and other sporting activities.

The rightly famed North Berwick West Links and Glen golf courses are close by and the immaculate Archerfield courses and luxury Spa are just a few minutes’ drive away.

A jam-packed events programme provides year-round entertainment with highlights including the North Berwick Highland Games, Fringe by the Sea and Puffin Fest.
